Event Description

Most Java developers are quite happy to focus their efforts on server-side code; they view the browser as an untamed world that is plagued by cross-browser incompatibilities, cryptic markup, and sub-standard scripting languages. However, new approaches are emerging which attempt to "tame" the browser. In this talk, Tim will present technologies such as the Dojo toolkit, JSON, and REST. But more importantly, he'll present it from the perspective of the J2EE developer. If you've ever wondered how to leverage "Web 2.0" technologies without becoming an HTML/CSS/JavaScript expert, this
talk is for you.

About the presenter:
Tim Crowley is an Enterprise Architect who works for an International
company that makes Machines for Business. By day, he focuses on integrating global systems. By night, he likes to explore new and emerging technologies.

The event will be hosted by Community Foundation of Sarasota, located at 2635 Fruitville Rd, Sarasota, FL 34237, which is west of exit 210 off I75.

Food and refreshments will be provided by Tek Systems

Meeting Schedule:
6-6:45 PM: Food and Networking
6:45 - 8:30 PM: Presentation

Please RSVP to dave@sunjug.org if you plan on attending. All are welcome.
