hi guys i´m configuring the enviroment with spring and jpa (top link as provider) with tomcat. But i´ve got a problem. When i execute that sentence this.getJpaTemplate().persist(user); the follow exceptions is raised:
Object: com.blank.model.User@136055d is not a known entity type.
Please if anyone knows how i can solve that issue i will appreciate your help.
Thanks.
Best.

Thank You Neil ,

Sony John - There are a variety of examples available. The book "Spring Recipes" does a really good job covering the topic. You may also want to download some of the sample projects at www.skywayperspectives.org. They all use JPA with hibernate as the persistence provider. They are standard eclipse projects. While they were created using code generation from Skyway Builder (which is open source), it isn't required that you have Skyway Builder to use and/or examine the projects. Best of luck.

I wish Spring source offered "weekend" training sessions instead of "weekday" sessions or may be both?! ...

Just what stops me from taking something up.

Spring scaffolding is also a good place to start with Spring MVC. It let's you get a fully functional SpringSource-certified CRUD application running by just defining a domain model and zero knowledge of Spring. Then you can take a look at the code and learn about Spring MVC in the context of your domain model.

Java Platform, Enterprise Edition - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Java Platform, Enterprise Edition or Java EE is a widely used platform for server programming in the Java programming language. The Java platform (Enterprise Edition) differs from the Java Standard Edition Platform (Java SE) in that it adds libraries which provide functionality to deploy fault-tolerant, distributed, multi-tier Java software, based largely on modular components running on an application server.

Java EE at a Glance

Java Platform, Enterprise Edition (Java EE) builds on the solid foundation of Java Platform, Standard Edition (Java SE) and is the industry standard for implementing enterprise-class service-oriented architecture (SOA) and next-generation web applications. The SDKs contain Sun GlassFish Enterprise Server, previously named Sun Java System Application Server, and provide support for Java EE 5 specifications.

The Seductions of Scala, Part I

Scala works seamlessly with Java. You can invoke Java APIs, extend Java classes and implement Java interfaces. You can even invoke Scala code from Java, once you understand how certain “Scala-isms” are translated to Java constructs (javap is your friend). Scala syntax is more succinct and removes a lot of tedious boilerplate from Java code.

The busy Java developer's guide to Scala: Functional programming for the object oriented

Summary: The Java™ platform has historically been the province of object-oriented programming, but even Java language stalwarts are starting to pay attention to the latest old-is-new trend in application development: functional programming. In this new series, Ted Neward introduces Scala, a programming language that combines functional and object-oriented techniques for the JVM. Along the way, Ted makes the case for why you should take the time to learn Scala — concurrency, for one — and shows you how quickly it will pay off.

The Scala Programming Language

Scala is a general purpose programming language designed to express common programming patterns in a concise, elegant, and type-safe way. It smoothly integrates features of object-oriented and functional languages, enabling Java and other programmers to be more productive. Code sizes are typically reduced by a factor of two to three when compared to an equivalent Java application. Read more...
